A prosthodontist is a dentist who has completed at least three years of advanced training after completing dental school. Prosthodontics is one of nine recognized specialties in dentistry. A prosthodontist is highly skilled at treating and handling complex dental treatment, including dental and facial problems that involve severely damaged or missing teeth. Dental implants are the foundation for many types of tooth replacement prostheses, including crowns, bridges, and implant-supported dentures, and are widely used by prosthodontists. Prosthodontists receive extensive training in cosmetics, dental implants, temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD), dentures, crowns, and implant-supported and implant-retained prostheses. Prosthodontists are the recognized experts when anything needs to be replaced in your mouth using state-of-the-art techniques and procedures. Prosthodontics is a complex type of dentistry and the results are life-changing for the patient. For more consistent and predictable treatment outcomes, seek care from a prosthodontist.
