WHAT: Free “Healthy”Halloween Event .

WHY: To provide area kids with a safe, healthy and fun Halloween event and to encourage early intervention and education for positive lifelong oral health habits, and to bring awareness and funding for the vital services of the West Ohio Food Bank.
Goblins, pirates, princesses, and more costumed characters will convene and compete for best costume at the Lima Dental Associates 4th Annual Healthy Goblin Bash Saturday, October 27, 2012. The “bash,”sponsored by the Lima Dental Kids Club, is designed to provide area kids with a safe, healthy and fun Halloween event and to encourage early intervention and education for positive lifelong oral health habits. Party attendees will be hosted by Lima Dental’s own Sparkle! The Tooth Fairy as they enjoy Halloween arts and crafts, games, bounce houses, a costume contest and free refreshments, including the custom “Jack-O-Pizza,”and more.
Lima Dental Associates also hosts the event to help bring awareness and funding to the important mission of the West Ohio Food Bank (WOFB), and makes an annual donation of $5,000 to the food bank. The event is free to attend but parents are encouraged to make a cash donation to WOFB, and kids can bring canned goods and healthy snacks for WOFB’s weekend backpack program serving over 2,000 area youth each week.

It’s a lot of fun but it’s also for such a good cause – the West Ohio Food Bank, who really needs the support of the community. We take great pride in our partnership with the food bank because we know they literally help to feed thousands and thousands of West Ohioans. They are a treasure in our community.â€

After all, we know that kids can’t learn on an empty stomach,” added Bright.
The Healthy Goblin Bash is open to area kids aged 12 and under. A parent or guardian must accompany them. RSVP’s are strongly encouraged to ensure ample refreshments and supplies.

About Lima Dental Associates

About the Lima Dental Kids Club
Membership in the Lima Dental Kids Club is free. Parents, whose children are members, will also receive a 10% discount on all LDA services for their children through age 12. In addition to the goodie bag filled with healthy and fun treats, Kids club members also receive invitations to Kids Club events with the Kids Club mascot, Sparkle!, the tooth fairy. The Kids Club provides a platform for dental wellness education and prevention, and helps children to overcome any dental treatment fears, while teaching them proper oral hygiene habits.
About the West Ohio Food Bank
Our mission at your West Ohio Food Bank (WOFB) is to create a hunger-free West Central Ohio by soliciting and providing food and grocery products to approved distribution agencies, increasing public awareness of domestic hunger and advocating for public policies that eliminate this problem. WOFB was established in 1988 in Lima, Ohio as a means of providing food to those who were in need in the Lima area. Initially, only Lima residents were the recipients of the food from the food bank. Donations came from local constituents in and around the Lima area. Today, WOFB is the largest food distribution system in the West Ohio area accepting, storing, and providing truckloads of food to more than 170 other non-profit charities that directly feed hungry people.
